Lard, honey and walnut bruschette

Difficulty: low

Cooking time: 10 min

Preparation: 10 min

Servings for: 4 people

These bruschette are perfect as an aperitif, appetiser for a dinner with friends, or delicious snack, and are fast and easy to prepare.

The sweetness of the honey is fused with the savoury taste of the lard and the pleasant crispness of the walnuts, creating a truly surprising combination of flavours.

INGREDIENTS

  • 8-10 slices of bread • 120 g lard in thinly cut slices • walnut kernels • chestnut honey • rosemary to taste • black pepper to taste

METHOD

Cut the bread into slices about 1-1.5 cm thick and toast them on a hotplate at high temperature, or else in the oven, turning them over so that both sides are evenly browned.

In the meantime, roughly chop the walnut kernels.

Lay a few slices of lard on the toasted bread slices without crushing them, so that the entire slice is covered. The lard must be laid on the bread slice while it is still hot, so that it slightly softens and melt.

Add a few pieces of walnuts and complete with a drizzle of honey.

Lastly, flavour with a few sprigs of rosemary and serve the bruschette still warm.
